Amy Edwards, Doctor of Physical Therapy
Amy Edwards, PT, has been a physical therapist in midwest Ohio for nearly 30 years. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University in consortium with the Medical College of Ohio in 1996. Over the years, Amy has worked primarily in outpatient orthopedic settings and has developed an expertise with treating the pelvis and pelvic floor dysfunction. She started her own practice, Specialized Therapy Services, LLC in Lima in 2007 which had a focus with outpatient orthopedics, pre and post operative care, neck and back pain, sports injuries, and pelvic floor dysfunction. After 13 years, Amy sold that practice to a local hospital system.
Amy has been a pioneer with developing and growing pelvic health therapy services in the area along with influencing numerous providers to advance their pelvic health skill set. Amy will be evaluating and treating (both male and female) pelvic floor disorders, including pregnancy & postpartum, pre / post-surgical (hysterectomy, cesarean section, episiotiomy, hernia repairs, prostatectomy), bowel / bladder issues (urgency, frequency, incontinence, retention, constipation, pain), sexual dysfunction (erectile dysfunction, painful intercourse), as well as pain around the lower back, groin, hips, pelvic & genital regions.
Why choose Building Resilience PT?
We take great pride in our ability to treat you as a whole person. You are more than just a body part, symptom, or diagnosis. Many of you have probably been to other providers and have not felt “heard.” We promise that will NOT be the case when you are under our care.
As “out of network” providers, we are able to treat any musculoskeletal issues that you experience without having to worry about insurance limitations or restrictions affecting the quality of your care. This allows us the freedom to provide you with whatever treatments we believe may be beneficial for you, not your insurance company. You actually don’t even need a prescription from a doctor to come see us in the state of Ohio.
There are no hidden or unexpected costs with our fee schedules. We will not waste your time and money by having you do things you could easily be doing at home. This means your frequency of visits will be less than a traditional PT clinic. Don’t worry, we will educate you on what you need to be doing outside of your sessions with us. Our goal is to get you better faster (in as few sessions as possible). If we aren’t seeing the progress we would expect, we will NOT continue to drag out your plan of care. Instead, we will gladly provide recommendations for what we would do if we were in your shoes. We have plenty of wonderful referral sources that we trust and rely on. We would never send you to anyone we wouldn’t personally go to ourselves.
At Building Resilience, you’ll receive one on one individualized care, ALWAYS. You will NOT be tossed around from one therapist to the next, where you have to repeat your story every time you walk in the door. Your plan of care will match up with YOUR wants, needs, and goals. We want to help you get back to doing the things that are important to YOU, as quickly and safely as possible. The recovery and rehabilitation process is not ideal for anyone, but we strive to make your PT experience as enjoyable as possible. We value you and we promise to treat you like family when you walk through our doors.
