Neurologic Dry Needling

  • Neurologic dry needling is used to treat all types of neuromusculo-skeletal conditions. This includes any condition where inflammation, reduced blood flow, & muscle guarding are present.

  • Dr. Jenna and Dr. Courtney are both trained to needle from head to toe. There are minimal risks and side effects to this type of treatment. Muscle soreness and occasional spot bruising are the most common complaints we receive after a treatment. We avoid needling during the 1st trimester of pregnancy, otherwise there are very few other contraindications.

  • Inserting thin monofilament needles into the soft tissues stimulates self-healing in those areas and provides an anti-inflammatory effect. Needling near specific nerve distributions also helps to reduce nerve irritability & sensitivity, therefore this treatment can be beneficial for both acute and chronic issues.

  • You may experience dull achiness or occasional brief “twinges” of pain, but our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible during your treatment session. The gauges of the needles are very small, so the treatment is nowhere near as painful as you would think.

  • Most people will notice some sort of improvement in symptoms within 1-3 visits if needling is going to be beneficial for them. We typically recommend coming in to see us 1x/week to start. Dry needling works best when combined WITH other treatment interventions such as manual techniques, cupping or soft tissue mobility, stretches and strengthening exercises.
